Hillary Rodham Clinton and Rudolph Giuliani could be
crossing paths in Buffalo this weekend, as they aim for
one of New York’s valuable third-party endorsements.
The head of New York’s
Independence Party, the state-wide arm of the national
Reform Party, says that the first lady is likely to
attend his party’s Senate forum next weekend.
“I’d be surprised if she
didn’t show up,” party Chairman Frank MacKay told
ABCNEWS this evening.
However, Clinton campaign
spokesman Howard Wolfson said that no decision has been
made about a possible appearance by Mrs. Clinton at the
event.
Mrs. Clinton’s advisers have
previously said that she is concerned about the role
played in the Independence Party by Lenora Fulani, a
former leader of the New Alliance Party. Fulani backs
Pat Buchanan as the Reform Party’s candidate for
president.
Giuliani, meanwhile, has
already committed to the event.
“He’s scheduled to attend.
He’ll be there,” said Giuliani campaign spokeswoman
Caroline Nolan.
